Research.

I am a PhD candidate and emerging researcher at Victoria University’s Institute for Health and Sport (IHES). My work investigates how physical activity can be integrated into psychological treatment to support mental health. I study barriers and enablers across community, client, and clinician perspectives and aim to generate practical strategies for clinical practice and policy.

Focus

Current Research:

  • Integrating physical activity within psychological treatment

  • Mixed methods, reflexive thematic analysis, TPB and the Behaviour Change Wheel

  • Practice-aligned research that supports feasible, session-based change

Projects:

  • Study 1 — Community attitudes to psychologists supporting physical activity

  • Study 2 — Young people’s experiences of receiving physical activity support in therapy

  • Study 3 — Psychologists’ capability, opportunity and motivation

Teaching–research link:

I teach across psychology, health and sociology, and use my research to design learning activities that build students’ practical skills in behaviour change, ethical decision making and interprofessional communication.

Collaboration:

I welcome enquiries about collaborations to integrate physical activity within psychological treatment, including implementation projects, workforce training, and practice-aligned research and resources that help clinicians support physical activity in therapy.
